Elevator Safety Technical Advisory Council (ESTAC): The Elevator Safety Technical Advisory Council was created by the Florida Legislature to provide technical assistance to the division in support of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public and give the division the benefit of the council members’ knowledge and experience concerning the industries and individual businesses affected by the laws and rules administered by the division.
Elevator Update – Quarterly Newsletter: The Division of Hotels and Restaurants, Bureau of Elevator Safety sends out a quarterly newsletter titled the Elevator UPdate. This provides a communications with from DBPR to the public, through this quarterly newsletter to help keep the public informed of legal requirements, recent changes to elevator codes, important dates, and upcoming meetings. Elevator Accidents: Within 5 working days after any accident occurring in or upon any elevator, the certificate of operation holder shall report the accident to the division on a form prescribed by the division. Failure to timely file this report is a violation of Chapter 399 and will subject the certificate of operation holder to an administrative fine, to be imposed by the division, in an amount not to exceed $1,000.

Florida Administrative Code Chapter 61C-5 – Florida Elevator Safety Code is constantly revised.
